Kia Seltos 2020 overview

The Kia Seltos is now on sale in India with introductory prices starting at Rs. 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The all-new compact SUV has been launched at disruptive pricing that undercuts the entire competition. The Seltos is the South Korean carmaker first product in India and was first showcased as the SP Concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The all-new offering is being produced at Kia's new facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, which will cater to both domestic and export demands. The competitive pricing pits it against a number of rivals including the Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, and the Jeep Compass.

The Kia Seltos is available in 16 variants and gives buyers to choose just the right version for themselves. The car is powered by two petrol and one diesel engine options, which are part of the third generation Smartstream family of engines, all of which are BS6 compliant. Power on the Seltos comes from the 1.4-litre GDI turbo petrol that develops 138 bhp and 242 Nm of peak torque, and is paired with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. There's also the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol that belts out 113 bhp and 144 Nm of peak torque, and is paired with a 6-speed manual and an IVT (Intelligent continuously variable transmission) automatic transmission. Lastly, the 1.5-litre VGT diesel produces 113 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, and is paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The Kia Seltos is being offered in two key trims - Tech Line and GT Line, each of which are offered in five variants - E, K, K+, X and X+. The Tech Line brings a more plush and premium appearance with a beige and black cabin with leather upholstery. The GT Line brings a sportier touch to the SUV with an all-black cabin, black leather seats with red contrast stitching and a sporty looking bumper, all of which are targeted at younger buyers. The all-new Seltos gets a bold design language with the massive bold grille up front that gets honeycomb mesh, sporty bumper, and an angular silhouette that gives the bike a sporty feel. The SUV gets the jewel effect LED headlamps with the signature LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and vertically stacked LED fog lamps on the GT Line, while projector fog lamps feature on the Tech Line trims. Inside, the Kia Seltos comes with a neatly laid out dashboard that is covered with well appointed materials including soft touch plastics, leather seats, and satin finished parts. The quality levels are impressive and the car definitely feels like a good place to be in. On the feature front, the SUV comes loaded with a flat-bottom steering wheel, colour MID unit (on the GT Line), 8-inch smart Heads Up Display (HUD), 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8-speaker Bose Sound System with mood lighting, ambient lighting and wireless phone charging. The Kia Seltos also comes with ventilated seats, 2-step reclining rear seats, electric sunroof, push button start, electrically adjustable driver's seat, auto climate control, keyless entry, and 360-degree camera. The safety tech adds six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, ESP, hill hold control and blind view monitor. The car uses advanced high strength steel in its construction for improved safety. The Seltos also comes with the UVO connectivity feature that adds 37 smart features including geofencing, remote engine start with AC control, emergency assistance, navigation, tyre pressure monitoring system and more. The car comes with disc brakes for all four wheels, Lastly, there are multiple driving modes - Normal, Eco and Sport on the DCT GDI combination, while you also get different traction modes like Snow and Mud.
